Hawaii Day 4: South Kona, Snorkeling at Keauhou, Da Poke Shack and Place of Refuge

On our fourth day, we spent the day exploring South Kona. I have to say, South Kona is so far our favorite place in the island. Our plan is to go to the historical sight – Place of Refuge(the Hawaiian name is very difficult for me to type) and just stop by whatever we see interesting on the way.

Scenic views on the way.

Then we stopped at Keauhou. When we saw the scenic view, we can’t resist to check the beach so we ended up snorkeling.

For lunch, there was a close by popular restaurant called Da Poke Shack which is only 2 miles away from the beach. It was a satisfying meal.

After checking out the historical site, we grabbed some smoothies at South Kona Fruit Stand. They have an outdoor seating with tree shades and water fall to cool you down with their smoothies.

My husband have promised our son to do some kite flying so we looked for another beach. So after driving around, we ended at Kealakekua Bay to try kite flying but there wasn’t enough wind.

Before heading to our “home”, we stopped by to a Thai restaurant but it was closed on Mondays. It was my fault for not checking at yelp. So, we just went to this Chinese restaurant next door. Their food got too much msg that I have to wake up in the middle of the night feeling so thirsty.
