Hawaii Day 17: Last Beach, Last Shave Ice and Hawaiian Fast Food

It’s a windy day here in Maui. But we need to go to the beach one last time :(. For our beach finale,  we went back to Kamaole Beach III in the morning.

We’ve been seeing this restaurant called Monkeypod kitchen located right at the entrance of Wailea. It looks good outside, it’s close by,  always pack and got good reviews so we have to check it out before switching to our real life.

It’s modern and pretty restaurant inside out with an ocean view on the outside seating.

Poke taco. It’s one of the popular one. It’s not bad. I think we’ve eaten enough of poke tuna.

Free range chicken wings. These are okay.

Keiki(kid) saimin. This is okay s well.

Butternut pizza with pine nuts. While the  squash and cheese are good, the bottom of the crust is undercooked. It’s was shaggy.

The desserts are the only one we really liked.  While their concept is about simple and elegant foods, they failed to match the price and taste.

After lunch, we drove around and picked up some turbinado sugars to bring for my cooking back home. Then stop by for the last shaved ice at Ululani’s.

Mango, coconut and lychee and just ice. I think I will never forget these flavor combinations… lol.

After enjoying the shave ice, we went back to the place to rest and get started with packing then last fun in the pool. Then dinner at Zippy’s the Hawaiian fast food.

Korean fried chicken, surf plate and spaghetti. The Korean fried chicken was good. The spaghetti was tasteless even my kid didn’t eat it. My husband liked his surf plate. They also have a bakery inside. We tried their sesame red bean balls and they are good. Now we also got breakfast for tomorrow.
